The "Specials" are mostly savings on meat boxes. (Special #1: 4lb. Steak Box or Special #2 8 - 8oz. Rib Eye Steaks for $20.00.)

9. Do I need to qualify for the program?

There are no applications or qualifications, anyone can participate. Angel Food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp Program, using the Off-Line Food stamp Voucher system. This ensures that the needy in your area are getting the maximum value for their grocery dollar, usually resulting in their receiving twice the amount of quality foods for their "food stamp dollar".

10.  Where do I purchase the food?

Food sales and distribution are handled by the local host sites. Most host sites are churches but other organizations such as The Salvation Army, VFW’s, and The Boy Scouts of America have participated.

11.  What if there is not a host site in my area?

Angel Food Ministries is growing rapidly. We hope to soon be able to serve the entire U.S.A. Please contact our offices and speak with our Ministry Development Department for further details.

12.  How do I place an order?

Orders and payments are collected by each individual host site during the first part of each month. The orders are then phoned, faxed, or place through our web-site to Angel Foods main office on what we refer to as "Call in Monday".

13.  Where do I pick up my order?

During the next week, called "Distribution Week", Angel Food Ministries begin loading the trucks that are scheduled to arrive at the host sites on what we call "Distribution Saturday". Along with the many trucks that go out from our warehouse about 200 local host sites pick up their food Saturday morning from our facility in Monroe.

14.  How does my church become a host site?

You may call our offices at 1-888-819-3745 or visit our website at www.angelfoodministries.com to request more information. Angel Food Headquarters will then send you a package in the mail with information, application and IRS W-9 Form you will need to apply.

15.  Why does a host site need to fill out an IRS W-9 Form?

The W-9 Form is used to identify the EIN – Employer Identification Number of your church, ministry or organization. The EIN will identify your organization’s non-profit status.

16. What does it cost to sign up to become a host site?

There is a onetime $50 application fee which covers all the training materials and start up costs. If for some reason your church or organization is not approved you will be refunded this fee. Once you become a host site Angel Food Ministries will donate $1 per regular unit purchased and $1 per Special Unit (non-holiday) ordered back to the host site church or organization’s benevolent fund. For example, if your church ordered 200 boxes and 5 Special units in a given month, the ministry would send your church a $205 check for that month.

17. How long after applying to be a host site until we are able to order?

You must receive a "Start up Package from Angel Food Ministries’ Headquarters. Training from your local state Minister of Outreach (state supervisor) is required before you place your first order. Application processing takes around 6 weeks once the required information is received at Angel Food Ministries Headquarters. Any questions pertaining to applications or the status of your application should be directed to our Customer Service Department at 770-267-7015 or 1-888-819-3745.

18.  How many volunteers will a host site need?

Your host site will need about one volunteer for every 10 to 12 units distributed.

19.  Where does a host site pick up their orders?

Angel Food Ministries provides a delivery truck to a local "Drop Site". This site is a shared or common site for several host sites to come to and pick up their food and take it back to their locations. Local host sites need to provide transportation from the "Drop Site" back to their individual host site.

20. How can our church get direct delivery?

It depends on your location and the cost of getting transportation to your host site. Availability of parking lots to accommodate a full sized semi tractor and trailer, highway conditions, traffic flow and residential locations are evaluated. Contacting the Logistics Department at Angel Food Ministries can help you with this information.

21.  Can a host site transport its own food?

Your host site may drive a transport vehicle to Monroe, GA and pick up their food order on Distribution Day. There is a savings of an additional $2 per box when your ministry picks the food up from Monroe, Georgia. This savings is in the form of a check and sent back to your host site. It is meant to help offset the cost of transportation. Transport vehicles must be clean and cannot carry livestock.

22.  How does a host sites take orders?

There is an initial supply of order receipt books and a training manual in your Start up Kit.

23.  How does a host site take food stamp orders?

24.  What does a host site do if there is a shortage or damaged goods?

Angel Food Ministries adds an extra unit which is called a PJ Add On (Pastor Joe Add On) to every order of 100 units purchased. The extra unit is to cover any shortages or damaged items that may occur during shipment. There are 17 to 18 items per unit and all items can be used to cover any shortages. You can also contact the Customer Service Department to discuss shortages.

25.  Is this an Outreach Ministry?

Yes definitely, churches and organizations across the United States are able to reach out in a greater way through their participation with Angel Food Ministries. As a host church you will provide a practical, non-threatening, yet life giving way for even your most timid church members to touch others as they return to the church each month to receive their food. They will often return bringing friends and relatives, and the members of your church will be able to touch the visitors with the compassion of Jesus in a very real, genuine way.

Host site churches become known in their local areas because of their "heart" for others. Their congregation becomes transformed as their members’ work together as a compassionate army of inspired and motivated workers. Financial strain is lifted. Lives are touched.

On distribution day, church volunteers come together to perform duties ranging from setting up tables, filling boxes of food or assisting disabled or elderly customers by carrying their boxes to

their cars.

"Pastor Joe predicts within the next decade Angel Food Ministries will have churches in every state in the country. At that point, he said, the church may try to expand the ministry into other countries. "I think we are poised, with God’s help and grace, for great things," Pastor Joe said.

26. What is the Servant Magazine?

Angel Food Ministries attempts to nourish both the body and spirit. Angel Food Ministries places a magazine called the Servant Magazine in each box of food. The magazine consists of articles on health advice, recipes, testimonies, Angel Food updates, the menu, and always a message of Salvation through Jesus Christ. Angel Food Ministries takes pride in the fact that their program crosses all denominational lines.

"I think it is so important that the people who receive our food understand where this tremendous blessing is coming from," Pastor Joe said. "And we have had people actually turn to Jesus as a result of taking part in Angel Food Ministries".

27.  Must the host site place the Servant Magazine in each box of food?

Angel Food Ministries requires that the Servant Magazine is included with each box of food distributed. Within the magazine is our salvation prayer – "Do You Know Jesus as Your Personal Lord and Savior". Host sites cannot exclude or replace this with other materials, unless pre-approved by headquarters. Angel Food Ministries encourages churches to put their name, address and phone number on the back of the magazine. Your host site church materials, such as church bulletins and other information, can also be passed out by hand as well during distribution.
