TO: THE K3NAZ CONGREGATION FR: THE PASTORAL STAFF We know the faith community of Kankakee First Church desire to help those who have been effected by the tornado outbreak in Oklahoma. We have a number of tangible ways that you can give help immediately. 1. This Sunday, May 26, we ask that you bring GIFT CARDS (Walmart, Target, Fast Food, Visa) of any amount and place them in the offering plate. These Gift Cards will be sent to the Oklahoma Nazarene District Offices to be distributed to our four sister Nazarene Churches who are located in the damaged areas and are ministering to their communities. 2. This Sunday, May 26, bring to the North Welcome Center any of the following items: SUNSCREEN, WORK GLOVES, DIAPERS, TRASH BAGS, BOTTLED WATER/GATORADE, HAND SANITIZER, BABY WIPES, DIAPERS, BABY FORMULA, INDIVIDUAL WRAPPED SNACKS, HAND TOWELS, PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS. Legends Sportsplex in Bourbonnais will be taking a truck next week with these supplies. 3. FINANCIAL GIFT thru the summer, any offering you desire to give should be noted as Tornado Relief Fund. All noted offerings will be given to the Church of the Nazarene’s US Tornado Relief Fund. 4. Those interested in VOLUNTEERING IN CLEANUP EFFORTS should register at Nazserve.org under Oklahoma Tornado Relief and await further instruction as teams are allowed in. Update: Four Nazarene Churches were affected by the tornados directly: Moore, Edmond First, Shawnee and Twin Lakes. Two of these churches received heavy damage to their buildings as well as a number of congregational members lost their homes in Sunday and Monday’s tornados. We learned from the Joplin, Missouri experience that one of the best tools we can put in our Nazarene pastor’s hands are gift cards that they can: a) Distribute to those they are ministering to and B) Use to buy food, clothing, medicine, blankets, etc… for people taking shelter in their buildings. Kankakee First Church is implementing the cancellation policy due to the winter storm advisory. In accordance with our policy, and in partnership with the public schools and Olivet Nazarene University, the offices of the Kankakee First Church will be close today. In addition, all scheduled activities for this evening, March 5, 2013, have been cancelled.

Connecting to Costa Rica - Our Partners in Missions Tuesday, February 5, 6:15 to 8:00 pm in the FLC We are shifting all of our Wednesday night activities (children, youth, adult studies, etc.) to Tuesday night so everybody can participate in our evening with Stephen & Anne Sickel, Missionaries in Costa Rica. * Supper served in the FLC from 6:15 - 7:00 pm. Taste a wonderful food prepared by our Hispanic Ministry members. Cost: $3.00 per person or $10 per family. * Program from 7:00 to 8:00 pm Music, testimonies and reports from our guest missionaries and Bruce Wilson on the work in Costa Rica. - No Prayer Meeting on Tuesday, February 5, due to our special program "Connecting to Costa Rica" - No Wednesday Evening Ministries on February 6. - This is an ALL CHURCH FAMILY NIGHT. - Nursery will be closed to allow our volunteers to be part of this special time. ***Please RSVP by Sunday, February 3 to the Church Office or secretary@k3naz.org
